- Lufthansa has 19 Boeing 747-8s and eight 747-400s.

- The 371-seat 747-400 will be deployed on seven routes from the hub.
Lufthansa is the world’s largest passenger operator with a fleet of Boeing 747 aircraft. No wonder Frankfurt is ranked number one in the world for Boeing 747 airliners and number two for all quadjet aircraft. But where do they fly? The German giant recently said when it comes to the A340, it’s the 747’s turn. Things change, but this is his latest status as of October 11th.
7 routes for 747-400
Lufthansa’s eight 371-seat 747-400s do not have first class. Instead, there are 67 business seats, 32 premium economy seats, and 272 economy seats. The average age is 23.5 years, which is slightly younger than the company’s similarly rare A340-300.

The northern hemisphere’s winter aviation season runs from October 29 to March 30, with airlines including Lufthansa switching to winter schedules. The 747-400 will operate on seven routes:
- Frankfurt to Bengaluru: daily
- Frankfurt-Delhi: daily
- Frankfurt-New York JFK: Daily
- Frankfurt – Seoul/Incheon: 6 flights per week – 6 flights daily
- Frankfurt-Mumbai: Daily (from January 15th)
- Frankfurt – Chicago O’Hare: Daily (February 1-29 only)
- Frankfurt-Vancouver: Daily (747-400 suspended on November 15th)
Some 13 747-8 routes
Unlike the 747-400, the 747-8 is much heavier and has a larger MTOW and payload. However, Lufthansa’s -8 seats 364, which is less capacity than the older series.
This is of course because -8 is much more premium. There are only 8 seats in first class, 80 seats in business, 32 seats in premium economy, and 244 seats in economy. It has more first and business seats than all of the company’s other fleet, including the A380.

The 747-400 will be deployed from February 1st to the 29th, with the -8 returning on March 1st. Note that Singapore and Buenos Aires are in the top five longest scheduled 747 routes.
