The CEO of an Illinois-based technology company was killed in a freak accident while celebrating the company’s anniversary, according to reports. CBS affiliate station WBBM-TV.
Sanjay Shah, CEO of Vistex, has died from injuries sustained in an accident during the company’s silver anniversary celebrations at Ramoji Film City in India. The Times of India said:. Police told the newspaper that Raju Datla, the company’s president, was also seriously injured.
Vistex arranged for its employees to stay at Ramoji Film City and organized a two-day celebration to mark its 25th anniversary. A representative from the company who spoke to the Times of India said the event in which Shah and Raju were lowered from a cage onto the stage was a stunt planned to kick off the festivities.
Video posted by new york post During Thursday night’s celebrations, it was revealed that Shah and his colleague Datla entered a steel cage meant to be lowered from an undisclosed height. Video showed one of the chains breaking and two people falling, with one man landing head-first on the ground. Police announced Monday that the incident remains under investigation.
“Suddenly, one of the two wires attached to the cage snapped. Both jumped over 15 feet and landed on a concrete platform,” police told The Times of India. “This resulted in multiple injuries.”
Doctors rushed them to the hospital and the two were transferred to a corporate hospital, where they were in critical condition. Shah suffered injuries to his leg and hand, and Datora suffered severe head injuries, CBS reported. Mr. Shah died at the hospital and Mr. Datla was in critical condition on Monday, CBS reported.
