The Montreal Canadiens did not place any players on waivers on Tuesday.
After another soul-stirring come-from-behind victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Canadiens headed to Mont-Tremblant for some rest, relaxation, and team bonding activities.
Roughly 30 players were placed on waivers Monday, but none were claimed.
Tuesday’s list could end up being different considering the Ottawa Senators put a first-round pick on the waiver wire. Former Habs forward Anthony Richard (Boston Bruins) was also placed on waivers.
Players on NHL exemption today: Alec Regula (BOS), Daniel Renouf (BOS), Anthony Richard (BOS), Riley Walsh (BOS), Parker Wotherspoon (BOS), Seth Griffiths (EDM), Eric Kallgren (NJ), Jared Bernard-Docker (OTT), Matthew Highmore (OTT), Jacob Larson (OTT), Egor Sokolov (OTT)…

NHL Player Exemption (October 3)
After losing 2019 first-round pick Rassi Thomson to waivers earlier this week, the Ottawa Senators have once again placed a high-end prospect on the waiver wire.
Jacob Bernard-Docker, a 2018 first-round pick, was selected by Ottawa with the 26th overall pick after a relatively quiet season at the NCAA University of North Dakota. The right-handed defenseman improved the following year, finishing his NCAA tenure with 15 goals and 45 assists in 90 games.
After recording just 15 points in 99 AHL games and two assists in 32 NHL games, the Senators decided it was worth putting him on waivers and risking the loss.
Ottawa also placed 23-year-old winger Egor Sokolov on waivers. He was selected 61st overall by the Senators in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.
Montreal Canadiens fans who keep an eye on Laval Lockett will have a good idea of what he brings to the table. Sokolov had an impressive 55 goals and 79 assists in 169 AHL games.
It is highly unlikely that Sokolov will clear waivers considering he is only scheduled to make $775,000 this season. One of the teams higher on the NHL’s waiver wire priority list is expected to make a claim.
NHL CBA Updated Exempt Wire Priority List
For now, the offseason priority list is set in stone, with teams that finished last in last year’s standings being given the first opportunity to acquire players on waivers.
For example, the Montreal Canadiens are the fifth-highest priority team on the NHL’s waiver wire list, as they finished 28th last year. The team allows him to make an application within 24 hours.
The offseason list will be maintained until Nov. 1, and will switch from last season’s rankings to this year’s rankings when determining priorities.
Simply put, the Canadian will remain fifth on the waiver wire priority list for at least a month. The Anaheim Ducks will also remain at No. 1 on the list until November 1st, despite acquiring Rassie Thomson from the Senators.
