Samsung previewed its first wearable smart ring, the Galaxy Ring, at the launch of its Galaxy S24 smartphone series earlier this year. Now, a new report has surfaced online revealing details of the wearable’s launch.
According to a Korean publication, Samsung is planning to announce the Galaxy Ring at its next Galaxy Unpacked launch event. This means Samsung could launch the Galaxy Smart Ring in conjunction with the launch of its next-generation foldable smartphones (Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6) in July this year.
The Samsung Galaxy Ring will have ECG support and will also be able to measure blood pressure. The wearable will have NFC support. The report also suggests that the smart ring will go into mass production between April and June.
Samsung Galaxy Ring: What to expectMatthew Wiggins, a clinical research scientist at Samsung Research, announced the Galaxy Ring during the Galaxy Unpacked event in January 2024. Samsung described the Galaxy Ring as a “powerful and accessible health and wellness device.”
Dr. Wiggins highlighted some of the features expected to come with the Galaxy Ring. For example, Samsung Health will include the ability to monitor potential sleep apnea by tracking changes in sleep patterns, blood oxygen levels, and keeping heart rate alerts while you sleep.
Additionally, Dr Wiggins hinted at the introduction of ‘My Vitality Score’, which assesses the wearer’s physical and mental readiness based on sleep, activity and heart rate data.
Previous leaks suggested that the wearable could include a number of sensors, as seen in a teaser video presented during a live event.
The Galaxy Ring was previously rumored to offer fitness tracking features similar to the Galaxy Watch. The trademark application indicates that Samsung’s smart ring can manage and evaluate “biological and physiological data, vital signs, and personal health records.”
