A comment made by Mission: Impossible and Silo actress Rebecca Ferguson about an anonymous former co-star has gone viral online, sparking speculation as to who she was referring to.
In fact, while answering, she also seemed to be fully aware that people would be scouring IMDb for her co-star, making it clear that it wasn’t Hugh Jackman or Tom Cruise.
Currently appearing on Reign with Josh Smith Appearing on the podcast as part of a long interview about Dune Part 2, she talked about speaking up on set to make people feel safe.
She was asked if there was ever a moment when she was proud to stand up and make her voice heard. She responded with a story about an unstable co-star from a movie she was in and what happened.
“I did a movie with a co-star who was totally stupid, and it didn’t matter who it was. I’m going to try not to give this away, but I remember there was a moment when this person I was very anxious and angry because I couldn’t recreate that scene. And I think I got yelled at because I was so vulnerable and uncomfortable.
[But] This person was number one on the call sheet, so there was no safety net for me. That’s why no one supported me. And I cried as I walked off the set. This person literally looked at me in front of the entire staff and said, “You call yourself an actor?” Is this something I need to work on? What is this? ‘And I just stood there broken. Things like this happen.
The next day I remember saying, “Please get off the set,” and kept walking. I remember being very scared because it was my first time speaking the language. I looked at this person and said, “You can stop.” He strives for the tennis ball. I definitely don’t want to meet you. ‘
Then the producers came in and said, “Number One” can’t do this, Ferguson, you have to have this person on set, but I said, “That person can turn around, and I can act behind the scenes.” I said okay. Head…and I did. ”
She added that she remembers feeling very scared at the time and thinking, “This can’t be happening.” She told her supervisors about it and they admitted she was right and said, “I’m not taking care of other people, I’m toying with this person because this person is so unstable.” He added that he was told, “This is what happened.” She added that whatever her work was, it was “amazing” from the moment she raised her voice.
Dwayne The Rock Johnson, who co-starred with Ferguson in 2014’s Hercules, echoed the comments, saying, “I hate watching this, but I love seeing her take on the bulls— ” he said. Rebecca was my guardian angel sent from heaven to our set. I love that woman. I want to know who did this. ”
Ferguson can be seen in “Dune: Part 2,” which opens in theaters Friday, and is currently in production on the second season of “Silo” for the Apple TV+ service.
