Have you ever felt the eerie feeling of being watched when you’re alone in a room with mirrors? A police officer offers an easy way to tell if you’re being spied on through a two-way mirror It has become a hot topic.
On January 11th, TikTok user Brian (@b_ry91), a police officer, posted a video that has since received over 7.2 million views. In the video, Brian demonstrates how to find two-way mirrors in public spaces.
“Things to remember about mirrors in public places. Place your finger on it, and if you have space, you’re in a safe place. Fun fact about Brian,” he says in the video, placing his finger on the mirror and pointing it. He spoke, pointing to the gap between the man and his reflection.
@b_ry91 If you have space, you are in a safe place. Two-way mirrors are easy to install in your Airbnb. I’ll check it out next time.
In the comments section of the video, users shared various reactions to the video. One user expressed confusion, saying, “I thought it would be bad if there was a space.” 2-way mirror is also available. ”
Another user humorously joked that he was paranoid, saying, “I went to check my mirror. At my house. I bought it.”
A third user followed up on the phrase used in the video, commenting: “No space, please leave!!!”
Some commenters were confused that they couldn’t find a space when checking into their home.
One user asked: “I don’t have space on my bathroom mirror at home. Sorry to anyone looking.” Another asked: “Is this true?” I tried it in my own home, but I didn’t have the space on any of the mirrors. ”
Following the confusion, Brian posted a follow-up video to clarify his original statement. He explained: “There are two basic types of mirrors. Generally speaking, you get one with reflective material and you stick a piece of glass in front of that reflective material. So when you put your finger on the glass, you see a reflection. Your finger touches the glass before you touch it. That’s why there’s a gap.”

He further elaborated on the different types of mirrors and provided a two-step verification process to check the mirrors. “Step 1, inspect your finger and if there’s a small gap, it’s probably OK,” he wrote.
He explained step two: “Give the mirror a little push. If it bends, you know it’s just a cheap mirror. But to be doubly safe, look at it and ask yourself, ‘Is this made of glass? ” and actually analyze it. If it’s made of glass and the reflection of your finger touches itself, you know someone can easily modify it behind the mirror. ”
according to wikihow, there is a more accurate way to identify whether a mirror is bidirectional. This can be done by shining a light on the mirror, tapping it, or in extreme cases breaking it.
In an interview with the Daily Dot, Brian wrote: Can be used with standard business and industrial glass mirrors. Cheap mirrors without a glass layer will not work. ”
