A travel enthusiast is set to quit cruising for life after watching a video that reveals a terrifying section that no one else knows about.
But if you have a cruise vacation on your bucket list, there are a few things you should know before heading to the ocean.
TikTok user @chasingthedream.hj shares some little-known facts about cruise ships, including the fact that the music stops when the sun goes down.
The author explained in the video, “Cruising is great until you realize how dark the ocean gets at night.”
But there’s another little-known secret that may be even scarier than darkness.
Chasingthedream.hj shocked TikTok again with an updated clip panning around the deck of a boat, but everything seemed to be going well on board.
That was until a user mentioned that there might be a morgue lurking beneath the festival.
So is this really true?
Cruise Mummy confirmed this speculation by publishing an informative article explaining why ships have morgues and what they do for cruise ship staff.
The blog confirmed that “all cruise ships are required to have a morgue where bodies can be stored for up to a week.”
As for the process in the unfortunate event of a passenger passing away, it says: “When a cruise ship passenger dies, staff will keep the body in the ship’s morgue until the ship reaches a suitable port for disembarkation, from where it will be airlifted. The cruise line will notify next of kin if the passenger is not already on board.”
Therefore, hosting a room for the dead below deck is no joke.
TikTok users were similarly horrified by the revelation and took to the comments to share their thoughts.
One person decided it was the last time they would set foot on a boat, writing: “No morgue on my first and last cruise.”
Another couldn’t believe what he was seeing from his users. “That’s right, darkness and the morgue!” Not this year. ”
But some people completely understood why it needed to be on board.
One person commented: “If something happens in the middle of the ocean, it’s common sense to save it until you get to shore.”
Another user said, “Of course there are morgues. If not in a morgue, where should we put the body?”
I mean, it makes sense. I just don’t want to go near the afterlife while I’m drinking a mojito in my hand.
