TORONTO — Starting today, everyone in Ontario over the age of six months will be able to receive a free flu shot and the latest COVID-19 vaccine.
Health Minister Sylvia Jones says people should make sure they are up to date with their vaccinations to stay safe and healthy during the peak season for respiratory illnesses.
Both vaccines are available for free through participating pharmacies, primary care providers and local public health departments, Jones said.
The state is encouraging residents to get both vaccines at the same time, saying they are safe.
The new COVID-19 vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna were approved by Health Canada earlier this fall and are designed to target the XBB COVID-19 variant.
The state says anyone six months old or older can receive a new COVID-19 vaccine if six months have passed since their last vaccination or confirmed infection.
