As part of the NBA All-Star coverage press release, Warner Bros. Discovery announced For the first time ever, live sports will be streamed in Dolby Vision. This feature will be “available via B/R” to Max subscribers with supported Dolby Vision TVs. [Bleacher Report] sports add on” the company said.
Dolby Vision has been available for streaming movies and TV series for years, but this is the first time it’s being used for live sports. Warner Bros. Discovery has hinted that it will soon be available for NBA, NHLA, MLB, NCAA, and U.S. Soccer games as well. Max is already enhancing his game live using his Dolby Atmos sound.
Sports streams will definitely benefit the most from Dolby Vision, as it improves brightness levels, clarity, and color. Dolby has previously said that his real-time HDR feed is intelligently processed to ensure bright areas are not blown out or detail is lost in shadows. The company also said the live feed will adjust depending on the device it’s being played on, making it optimal for each display.
This weekend’s NBA All-Star broadcast will feature Dolby Vision for the first time. Broadcast content includes the game starting at 8:00 PM ET on Sunday, February 18th, and a special two-hour NBA All-Star Tip-off Show starting at 6:00 PM.
Max started the bleacher report October 5th offers live sporting events including MLB, NBA, NHL, NCAA, and more. It also provides access to all of WBD’s pre- and post-game shows, along with Bleacher Report highlights, documentaries, and more. The company recently extended the deadline for free programming until February 29, 2024. There will be a $10 monthly fee after that, but the addition of Dolby Vision makes it a more attractive option.
