Cale Makar and Alexander Georgiev will join Colorado Avalanche teammate Nathan MacKinnon at the 2024 NHL All-Star Weekend in Toronto.
Defenseman Makar and goaltender Georgiev were two of the five winners of the 2024 NHL All-Star Fan Poll, sponsored by MassMutual, announced by the NHL on Saturday.
Edmonton Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl and Florida Panthers goaltenders Sergei Bobrovsky and Jeremy Swayman were also winners of the fan vote.
This will be Draisaitl’s fifth All-Star Game appearance and Makar’s third. Bobrovsky will be competing for the second time, while Georgiev and Swayman will be competing for the first time.
The final seven winners of the fan vote will be announced on Sportsnet and NHL Network on Saturday at approximately 6:45 p.m. ET before the start of the Avalanche-Toronto Maple Leafs game.
These 12 players (eight skaters and four goaltenders) will join the 32 players selected by the league, including MacKinnon, announced on January 4th.
In addition to the five fan-voted winners, the NHL announced five of the 10 All-Stars who will participate in the 2024 NHL All-Star Skills presented by DraftKings Sportsbook. Those players are David Pastrnak of the Bruins, Nikita Kucherov of the Tampa Bay Lightning, Draisaitl and Connor McDavid of the Oilers, and Jack Hughes of the New Jersey Devils..
Fan voting details for Skill’s final five players and Skill’s final two players will be announced on Saturday before the Avalanche vs. Maple Leafs game.
All-Star Weekend, to be held at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto from February 1st to 3rd, will have a completely new look this year. The player draft will return as part of a new event, NHL All-Star Thursday.
The Tim Hortons NHL All-Star Draft (6 p.m. ET, SN, ESPN) will pair big names with captains. They select his four teams of 11 players (9 skaters, 2 goalies) to compete in the NHL All-Star Game.
The NHL Alumni Association will announce the Player of the Year in honor of the last team to win the Stanley Cup (SN), the 1967 Toronto Maple Leafs. There will also be 3-on-3 games in the Women’s Professional Hockey League (SN, ESPN+).
The 2024 NHL All-Star Game will be held on February 3rd and will be available to watch on ABC, ESPN+, SN, CBC and TVAS.
