Electronics brand LG has unveiled the Signature OLED T, a TV with a transparent screen that was showcased at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show.
LG described the Signature OLED T as “the world’s first wireless transparent OLED TV.”
This TV features a 77-inch OLED screen. OLED stands for organic light emitting diode, a technology used in lighting. Facilitates digital display of products such as TVs and smartphones.
Thanks to its transparency, the TV does not have to be mounted against a wall like traditional screens.
Rather, the Signature OLED T can be used as a subtle room divider, even when it’s turned off or placed next to a window without compromising visibility.
“Nearly invisible when turned off, the TV blends into its environment, freeing users from the age-old problem of what to do with a ‘big black screen,'” the brand said.
This model uses wireless video and audio transmission technology facilitated by LG’s Zero Connect Box.
According to LG, the box transmits 4K images and audio to the TV, giving users the freedom to place the model anywhere without relying on an electrical outlet.
Artificial intelligence (AI) processor enhances screen image quality. The user can switch between his two settings: transparent and opaque, depending on how he wants the content to appear on the screen.
“The content displayed on the transparent screen appears to be floating in the air, but at the same time blends with the surrounding space to create an attractive and atmospheric visual effect,” LG said.
Custom widgets are also integrated into the design, including an “info ticker” that displays information like weather and news alerts at the bottom of the screen, and an option to transform the entire screen into an animated aquarium.
The Signature OLED T is available as a standalone TV or as a wall-mount option.
