Britain’s King Charles was treated for an enlarged prostate and was discharged from hospital on Monday after three nights in hospital, television footage showed.
The 75-year-old king, who was admitted to hospital for a planned operation on Friday, waved to the crowd as he made his way home from London Clinic Hospital, accompanied by his wife Queen Camilla.
Prince Charles’ departure comes just hours after Kensington Palace revealed that Kate, Duchess Kate, had been discharged from hospital after undergoing abdominal surgery earlier this month.
Duchess Kate, 42, wife of Prince William, heir to the British throne, was admitted to the London Clinic Hospital on January 16th after undergoing surgery for an unspecified non-cancerous condition.
The palace said in a statement on Monday that she was making “good progress” and had returned to her home in Windsor.
“The Prince and Princess would like to express their huge gratitude to the entire team at the London Clinic, especially the dedicated nursing staff, for their care,” the statement said.
There are no imminent public actions
The princess is not expected to return to royal duties until after Easter. Her husband Prince William, the heir to the throne, will take care of their three children, Prince George (10), Princess Charlotte (8) and Prince Louis (5), due to her engagement. has been postponed.
Few details of her illness or surgery have been revealed, as the British royal family typically considers all medical matters to be private matters.
But Charles decided to go public with his condition to encourage other men to get checked.
He visited Catherine in hospital before undergoing “corrective surgery” to treat enlarged prostate, a condition common in men over 50.
Buckingham Palace said in a statement that the king thanked “the medical team and everyone involved who supported his hospital visit and… all the kind messages he has received over the past few days.”
Prince Charles’ official duties have also been postponed due to his short-term medical needs.
