The insurer for members of public service health plans who are assigned or traveling abroad says it recently detected a “cybersecurity incident” involving its systems, but what information may have been accessed It is not specified whether there is.
MSH International Canada announced that it detected the incident on February 9th and immediately suspended its services. The insurance company said in a statement that law enforcement has been notified and a thorough investigation is underway.
It is unclear what information may have been accessed in this security incident, the insurer said.
“We are working to determine whether personal information was affected by this incident. If our investigation reveals that personal information was affected, affected individuals will be notified. ” said MSH.
MSH is a subcontractor to Canada Life that provides “emergency travel and comprehensive coverage services” to members of public service health care plans abroad.
There may be delays in processing insurance claims.
As a result of this incident, some systems are currently offline. Claims cannot currently be processed and members are unable to log into her MSH member portal.
“This may result in delays in claims processing and an inability to provide claim status,” MSH said, adding that its contact center remains available by phone.
The Treasury Board of Canada (TBS) said it is aware of the incident and that the Government of Canada meets regularly with Canada Life to obtain updates.
TBS said this is an “evolving situation” and will share further information as it becomes available.
