Most of us have dreamed of a European vacation since we first developed a love for travel. If you’re lucky enough to check a big-ticket item off your bucket list this year, there’s a lot to consider when finding your destination. Of choice.
that’s why Allianz Partners USA recently released a report on four destinations expected to be trending among U.S. travelers in 2024.
These four countries are looking ahead to a year packed with exciting cultural and historical events, and that’s why we decided to book our long-coveted tickets and finally explore the best of Europe’s charms. It will provide you with an excuse.
France
Few people need a special reason to visit France, the world’s most popular travel destination, but the fact that Paris will host the 2024 Olympic Games has made millions of people excited. That’s more than enough to drive tourists to the French capital.
So while the country has yet to fully regain its pre-pandemic glory, it’s safe to assume that all will be about to change by the summer of 2024.
Those who want to experience not only world-class sporting events, but also Paris and France itself, can also make time to enjoy the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, and the current stunning scenery. Notre Dame Cathedral partially rebuilt.
Outside the capital, especially if you’re visiting during the warm Olympic season, we recommend spending a few days exploring the country’s picturesque countryside and exploring the charming Riviera.
After all, coming all the way to France without experiencing the sunny vineyards of Bordeaux or the lavender fields of Provence would be a huge missed opportunity.
Germany
European sporting events are all the rage this year, with Germany hosting the much-awaited UEFA Euro 2024 tournament.
With the first game set to take place on June 14th, this summer is set to see some electrifying competition and unrealistic goals. This means those looking to escape the seasonal heat are already making plans.
Most destinations in Germany boast the kind of mild and comfortable climate we sorely seek during the scorching summer months.
Moreover, this country will never let you get bored.
Between the vibrant urban landscape of Berlin, the otherworldly beauty of the Bavarian Alps, and the trendy vibe of Munich, you’ll be so awe-struck that your desire for a beach vacation becomes just an afterthought. Probably.
Spain
But if you can’t resist a few sunbaths this summer, you might want to plan a quick stopover to Spain. This is a country that really lives up to the hype, with its infectious atmosphere and gorgeous beaches.
Madrid and Barcelona in particular continue to be the country’s biggest hotspots, and for those who know what they’re looking for in a trip to Europe in 2024, deciding between them will be very easy.
Madrid is a city traveler’s paradise.
Those looking to truly embrace Spanish culture and experience the region’s iconic café culture will have a great time here.
Barcelona, on the other hand, has a lot of beaches and a laid-back charm, making it the perfect city for travelers looking to enjoy Spain’s golden sands and crystal-clear waters.
However, if you are splurging on your European vacation, we recommend visiting both places with some leeway in your schedule and budget. I guarantee it’s worth it.
Portugal
It would be no exaggeration to say that Portugal has had a turbulent year.
Once one of Europe’s hidden gems, this place is now known by many as Europe’s trendiest and most valuable destination. A recently released Allianz report showed that this is not going to change anytime soon.
While there were a number of Portuguese cities that topped travelers’ wish lists last year, such as Porto and Faro, it is the capital that is currently seeing the highest and most consistent growth in booking traffic.
A vibrant city famous for overlooking the Tagus River, Lisbon will amaze you with its colorful streets, historic trams and classic fado music.
