Google has officially acknowledged that there is a bug in the Android 14 update. The tech giant not only acknowledged the issue, but also said it was investigating a bug that is causing problems for Pixel owners with multiple user profiles. Recently, a company representative confirmed the existence of a bug in his Google Issue Tracker and said the team is “working hard to fix” the bug.
What is the impact on users?
The issue was first reported by Pixel 6 owners, who started facing the issue shortly after Android 14 was released. According to a report from Ars Technica, this issue received over 350 replies from Google’s issue tracker. The responses spanned several different device owners. Issues can range from missing apps to regular crashes to one of your device’s user accounts being completely locked out of internal storage.
There are currently over 420 replies in the issue tracker. Some users pasted log files or uploaded photos of their phone screens. Multiple users also revealed that they are unable to take screenshots of phone reports on their devices as there is no storage available to save them. Several users also complained that their experience felt like they were infected with ransomware.
Affected devices include Pixel 6, 6a, 7, 7a, Pixel Fold, and Pixel Tablet. Android 14’s multiple profiles feature allows a user to access multiple profiles on her one device. Users can also split their “home” and “work” profiles to separate data across overlapping apps. This bug is reported to be impacting users who utilize this feature.
