The BC Center for Disease Control has reported a new flu-related death in children under 10.
The deaths were reported during the week of January 14 to 20, the center said in its latest weekly update.

The center said there have been four influenza-related deaths in children under 10 during the current respiratory disease season.
According to the report, influenza-related deaths are cases in which influenza plays a role, but is not necessarily the primary cause of death.

It said that as of January 13, influenza A has been the most frequently reported type of influenza since the beginning of this respiratory season.
The center also said that there are currently 168 people hospitalized with COVID-19, 16 of whom are in critical care.
