Cody Rhodes still has a chance to “end the story” at WrestleMania 40, as he won his second straight match in tonight’s WWE Royal Rumble match.
The final six for the 2024 Royal Rumble were Drew McIntyre, Sami Zayn, Cody Rhodes, Damian Priest, Gunther, and CM Punk.
However, once Zayn eliminated Priest, McIntyre took the opportunity to eliminate Zayn, who had just entered the match as number 30, reducing the field to four men.
Both Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns were shown watching the event from their respective suites inside the stadium, before the final four faced off in the ring.
After CM Punk eliminated Drew McIntyre and Cody Rhodes eliminated Gunther, the two champions reappeared before the final two began a brawl.
The final two of WWE Royal Rumble 2024 were CM Punk and Cody Rhodes.
In the end, it was Cody Rhodes who eliminated CM Punk and won the Royal Rumble once again.
This victory marks the first time since Stone Cold Steve Austin won back-to-back Royal Rumbles in 1997 and 1998.
After the match, Cody Rhodes clearly chose Roman Reigns as his opponent at WrestleMania 40 in a rematch from WrestleMania 39.
