Kristen Stewart responds to criticism of herself Recent Rolling Stone covercaused controversy upon release.
As a guest on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” Stewart was asked why she thought the cover of her with her hands inside her jockstrap was getting so much negative attention. Ta. Colbert started the conversation after CBS made it clear that he did not want the cover to be shown on Colbert’s show.
“Before I show you this cover, I want you and your viewers to know that I think this is a perfectly nice cover,” he said. “I received a request from CBS.” do not have To show that. They didn’t think it was a good idea for us to show this, but I don’t know why. There’s the cover,” he said, rotating the cover for the audience.
“What I’m saying is, you look better in a jockstrap than I do,” Colbert added, asking for comment on the criticism the image received.
Stewart pointed out society’s double standards. I’ve seen a lot of hands in my pants, hands unbuttoning… some sort of take on a woman’s sexuality of her own volition, which is annoying to sexist and homophobic people. I think there is a clear recognition. ”
“I’ve seen more explicit covers in Rolling Stone and Sports Illustrated for that matter,” Colbert said, to which Stewart responded, “It’s not explicit.”
Colbert added, “In contrast to the way female sexuality is presented here, I think this also goes against public expectations of female sexuality.”
Stewart agreed. And I feel like it’s sticking out in an annoying direction. But damn it. ”
Stewart’s Rolling Stone cover hit comes ahead of the March 8 release of the romantic thriller film Love Lies Bleeding.
