An unfair labor practice lawsuit brought by the union representing Canada Post workers over layoffs has been resolved.
The Canadian Postal Workers Union filed a complaint with the Canada Industrial Relations Board on Nov. 29 after some workers received layoff notices during the strike.
Labor unions say A settlement was reached through mediation. This would require Canada Post to notify affected employees that they are not being furloughed.
Approximately 328 workers have been issued notices of termination.
The union called the move a “blatant intimidation tactic” and accused Canada Post of violating the Canada Labor Code, a charge the Crown corporation denies.
Canada Post said it reserves the right to adjust staffing levels in the future if necessary, under the terms of the resolution.
A strike by more than 55,000 postal workers over key issues such as wages and working conditions is nearing its fourth week mark.
