Donald Trump has never been shy about touting his accomplishments. But after accomplishing perhaps the greatest political feat of his career, the new president-elect has so far remained silent on his normally ubiquitous social media platforms.
As of Thursday afternoon, President Trump had not posted on Truth Social, a platform run by his social media company. trump mediaeven before all voting closed on Election Day. Nor has he trumpeted his victory on the social media site X, which is owned by Elon Musk, a prominent supporter of his campaign.
President Trump’s officials facebookHis Instagram and TikTok accounts have also not been updated since Tuesday. The latest of all three posts is a video message from President Trump urging Republican voters to get in line at the polls.
It’s unclear whether President Trump’s online absence is a deliberate message choice or whether he is simply taking a break from social media after posting frequently during the campaign.
Asked for clarification, Trump campaign spokesman Stephen Chan said only: “President Trump won a historic election and will be sworn in as the 47th President of the United States.”
Trump is certainly still gregarious in other ways. Multiple world leaders, including the President of the European Commission Ursula von der LeyenPrime Minister of Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the British Prime Minister keir starmerhas already met with President Trump and expressed his congratulations.
President Trump also received calls from his defeated opponents, Vice President Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden, who also congratulated him on his victory.
A senior campaign official told NBC News that Trump spent much of Wednesday on the phone with world leaders from his Mar-a-Lago home in Florida, and was expected to return more calls on Thursday. Ta.
