A Canadian has sparked an online controversy after allegedly refusing to pay sales tax after shopping at a hardware store.
TikToker who goes by handle @leaderofthefreeworld_shared the video with the caption, “Playtime is over.”
The clip, filmed inside an unspecified hardware store, begins with a man showing viewers a total of $521.81.
“$521.18 — that’s before taxes for Hands Across Canada. Look at that. I’m dropping money for Hands Across Canada,” he says.
“Are you ready yet?” asks the cashier.
“No, wait a minute,” he replied, counting the cash in front of the camera.
After paying the total amount excluding taxes, he picked up the camera and pointed it at the employee.
“Now you can feel free to call your manager. Do whatever you want,” he says. I have money. I refuse to pay taxes. I’m a member of Hands Across Canada Ax the Tax. ”
abolish taxes This is a campaign by the Conservative Party of Canada to repeal the carbon tax that “is driving up the prices of gas, food and heating amid a cost of living crisis.” However, a search online reveals some confusion about Hands Across Canada, an unofficial movement opposed to the carbon tax.

I need to take a moment to hear about the movement of carbon tax protesters called “Let’s join hands across Canada to repeal the tax.”

The employee replied, “Okay, I need your tax exemption number.”
“No, I do not swear allegiance to the monarch. I have proof – the money is there, I dropped the money. Have a nice day. I don’t need a receipt, I don’t need anything.” he said and walked away.
“Sir, please wait a moment,” an employee said as he pushed a full cart toward the exit.
“Ma’am,” he said, then yelled, “Management!” Management is required! immediately! It needs management. Get out of the way, ma’am. Look, she’s jumping up and down and bothering me. Please leave me alone! I put money into it! she can’t do anything. That’s not your job. You have no such authority, ma’am. ”
And he walked out of the store and said, “Here you go.” Visibly upset, he said to the camera, “That’s how you do it.”

“Step 1: Film yourself committing the crime. Step 2: Post on social media. Step 3: Arrest,” one commenter said.
Another wrote: “What a terrible threat to an older woman 😒 Pathetic.”
Another asked, “Did he drive to the store on a road built with tax money?”
One business owner pointed out how these actions affect people’s lives.
“As a small business owner, I hate taxes, but even if someone refuses to pay them, I still have to pay them out of my own pocket to send to the government,” they wrote. There is. “This doesn’t hurt anyone but the business.”
