TCL unveils a series of new smartphones at CES 2024 There was one last month, but there wasn’t much information. Thankfully, that has just changed.
now MWC 2024 TCL has announced a lot of details about the upcoming phone, including full specifications, pricing, and availability. And you know what? They all look promising.
TCL 50XE NxtPaper 5G
TCL brings NxtPaper technology to smartphones with the TCL 50 XE NxtPaper 5G.
The TCL 50 XE NxtPaper 5G features a 6.6-inch HD NxtPaper display with 90Hz refresh rate. Thanks to NxtPaper technology, it provides multi-layered eye protection and reduces blue light from the screen by up to 61%. It also has an anti-glare matte finish, so it’s very close to a paper-like viewing experience.
TCL includes the MediaTek 6835 23E+ chipset, and the phone comes with 4GB RAM and expandable 5-8GB RAM, and 128GB or 256GB storage. The 5,010mAh battery lasts two full days on a single charge and supports 33W fast charging.
For photos and videos, you get a dual rear camera system with a 50MP main lens and a 5MP ultra-wide-angle lens. Not the best, but good enough for basic photography. There is also a 32MP selfie camera in the hole-punch cutout on the front display.
The TCL 50 XE NxtPaper 5G is available from TCL’s website for just $199. It is expected to launch in North America in the third quarter of 2024.
TCL 50XL NxtPaper 5G
The TCL 50 XL NxtPaper 5G is a bit more high-end than the XE, offering better specs across the board at a very reasonable price.
TCL 50 XL NxtPaper 5G features a 6.78-inch NxtPaper display with up to 120Hz refresh rate, making scrolling smoother and clearer. It also features NxtPaper display technology, which provides multi-layer eye protection that reduces harmful blue light. The paper-like matte finish also eliminates reflections and glare.
The TCL is powered by a MediaTek 23E+ chip, which makes it a little better than the XE’s chip. It comes with a base 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, which is expandable up to 2TB of storage via a microSD card.
Like the XE, the TCL 50 XL NxtPaper 5G comes with a 5,010mAh battery that lasts about two days on a single charge. However, while it does have Power Delivery fast charging, it only has speeds up to 18W.
When it comes to cameras, the TCL 50 XL NxtPaper 5G is only slightly better than the XE as it has a triple lens camera system. It features a 50MP main shooter, a 5MP ultra-wide snapper, and a 2MP depth lens. In other words, don’t be fooled by the triple camera layout. No telephoto camera here. On the plus side, the 50MP wide camera should be able to handle movement in photos using TCL’s Steady Snap technology. In terms of selfies, the TCL 50 XL NxtPaper 5G comes with an 8MP camera.
The TCL 50 XL NxtPaper 5G will be available in the U.S. from the third quarter of 2024 on TCL’s website for just $229.
