Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is a Swiftie.
His office confirmed to CTV News Toronto that he and his family will be attending the penultimate show of Taylor Swift’s “The Elus Tour” in Toronto on Friday night. .
The premier is in the Greater Toronto Area to announce funding for Ontario’s school nutrition program and that the government will waive GST and HST on essential goods for two months.
Last week, on the opening night of Swift’s show in Toronto, Prime Minister Trudeau posted on social media welcoming the superstar to Canada.
Before it was announced that Swift would be ending her extensive tour in the country, Prime Minister Trudeau joined the chorus of calls urging the Grammy-winning singer to tour Canada.
“It’s me, hello. I know you’re welcome everywhere in Canada. So don’t let it be another brutal summer. I look forward to seeing you soon,” Trudeau said in 2023. I mentioned some of Swift’s songs in my July post.
The singer’s show in Toronto drew tens of thousands of people to the city from all over the world. Spending in Toronto was already up 57% week-on-week across all categories during the first three days of the Elas Tour’s Toronto leg, according to Canadian payments provider Moneris.
Swift concludes the Toronto leg of her tour on Saturday. She will then fly to Vancouver next month to conclude the tour, which began in March 2023.
