Earlier this year, we previewed Enshrouded, the new survival action RPG from Portal Knights developer Keen Games. Although we weren’t able to actually play the game, we were impressed with everything it does to make this challenging survival genre more approachable. Following its May launch, Keen Games released the Enshrouded demo as part of Steam Next Fest, giving players a chance to try it out. Now, the studio has revealed that Enshrouded will enter early access next year.
Specifically, Enshrouded will enter early access on PC on January 24, 2024. Keen Games said this is a big moment for the team, as Enshrouded is the first in-house published game in its nearly 20-year lifespan, and this Early Access release has been delayed a bit later than originally planned. arrival.

Regarding the later-than-expected Early Access release date, Keen Games said in a press release that over 20 years of experience, “within a tightly knit team, we have learned to anticipate the unexpected.” is written.

According to Keen Games, Enshrouded was the most played demo at Steam Next Fest, the most wishlisted game, and the demo with the “most daily active users.” The studio is using Portal Knights as the spiritual foundation for Enshrouded, drawing inspiration from other games in the survival genre like Valheim while weaving a more relaxed approach to the genre overall.
