Exoplanet hunters discovered a rare star system containing seven planets after sifting through data from a space telescope that stopped operating in 2018. An exoplanet is a planet that orbits a star other than the sun.
Introducing Kepler 385
Kepler-385, also known as Swan, is a nearly sun-sized star located approximately 4,670 light-years away in the constellation Cygnus, and the existence of a planet was first suspected in 2014. They appeared in data from NASA’s Kepler Space Telescope.
However, a new analysis confirms the existence of seven planets larger than Earth and smaller than Neptune. Her two planets closest to the host star are thought to be rocky and may have thin atmospheres.
However, all seven planets are said to be hotter than any other planet in our solar system. NASA. This is the first time this has happened in a multi-planetary system.
accurate list
“We have created the most accurate list of Keplerian planet candidates and their properties to date.” Said Jack Lissauer, research scientist at NASA Ames Research Center in California’s Silicon Valley and lead author of the paper published This week Planetary Science Journal. “NASA’s Kepler mission has discovered the majority of known exoplanets, and this new catalog will allow astronomers to learn more about their characteristics.”
Kepler’s legacy
The Kepler Space Telescope observed about 200,000 stars to calculate which portion of stars in the Milky Way galaxy have Earth-sized planets in their habitable zones. Between 2009 and 2018, he discovered 2,662 exoplanets, until this mission was terminated due to technical problems. But scientists will be using that data for many years.
According to NASA, more than 5,500 exoplanets have been identified outside our solar system.
I wish you clear skies and big eyes.
