Fehervary gave the Capitals a 1-0 lead with a slap shot from the top of the left circle that beat Lukonen’s five-hole at 2:46 of the first period.
Zemgus Girgensons redirected Dahlin’s shot glove side to Lindgren, tying the game at 1-1 at 15:42.
Peterka put Buffalo ahead 2-1 on a power play at 16:50. Zach Benson’s short, centering pass hit Tucci’s stick and was deflected by Peterka, who slotted it into the net from along the goal line past a sprawling Lindgren.
Peterka then made it 3-1 at 10:54 of the second period. Tucci forced a turnover on Nicolas Aube-Couber in the right circle and he single-handedly scored in front of goal.
“That guy’s stick is crazy,” Peterka said of Touch. “When you have the car, it’s like going back and forth. He wins so many pucks on the forecheck that it’s so easy to play with him. That’s what I I was really happy when I came here.”
Strome scored a power-play goal at 19:14 when he backhanded a rebound into the crease to make it 3-2.
“Overall, we didn’t play very well, so we were lucky to be in that position in the third period,” Fehevary said. “But then it hit us. I mean, we need to be better across the board. Like, we need to be sharper across the board. [defensive] zone, so you just need to check more. ”
Darling scored a one-timer from the left point on the power play at 3:03 of the third period, making it 4-2.
The Sabers have used the man advantage in their last seven games, going hitless in 18 games, but going 2 of 2 on the power play.
“We talked about it a lot and it finally started to sink in,” Darling said. “We’ve had a lot of chances on the power play in the last five games, but we haven’t scored. That can be frustrating, but we persevered and we scored two really good goals today. We just keep growing.”
