A Kelowna-based clinical research group is seeking chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients to participate in an ongoing research study.
The Okanagan Clinical Trials website states, “The Okanagan Clinical Trials is inviting individuals between the ages of 40 and 80 to participate in an ongoing study of an investigational drug to treat COPD that may help prevent heart failure and heart attacks. We are looking for researchers,” the study details.
“The investigational treatment does not impact state health insurance, and all trial-related costs are covered by the sponsor.”
COPD is a chronic inflammatory lung disease that obstructs the flow of air to the lungs, and while its symptoms can be managed with medications, there is currently no cure.

“As of 2020/21, more than 5 per cent of people over the age of 35 in B.C. have been diagnosed with COPD,” the B.C. government says on its website.
