Billionaire investor Mark Cuban told Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Sunday that the Republican presidential candidate may not ultimately be able to repay his political debts, so Donald Trump・Warned against forming an alliance with former President Trump.

Cuban’s message fueled various conspiracy theories that the SpaceX CEO said Democrats were encouraging immigration to battleground states as a “surefire way to win every election.” It was in response to Musk’s previous X post.

Musk’s support for Trump is a complete change from 2022, when he openly insulted the former president on social media.

The two billionaires are on opposing sides in the presidential race this election cycle. But both business leaders are eyeing some level of regulatory control.
Cubans believe that Trump may not follow through with his interaction with Musk.
Cubans have become outspoken agents of Vice President Kamala Harris and her economic policies. In recent weeks, he has regularly defended Harris as “better for business,” despite some skepticism about her plan to raise corporate tax rates.
While Mr. Cuban shores up public support, he is also monitoring a possible new job at the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Meanwhile, Musk is pursuing a new job of his own. Musk has repeatedly suggested the creation of a so-called “Government Efficiency Commission” to police federal spending if Trump wins a second term in the White House. And he raised his hand to take command of such an institution.

But the Republican candidate hedged that Musk, a busy CEO of multiple companies, might not have time for the job, but could “consult” with him.
