Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has lost the trust of another prominent Liberal MP.
Peter Fragiskatos, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Housing, Infrastructure and Communities and London North Center MP, told CTV News: “Today I am even more frank in calling for the Prime Minister to resign.”
Following Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland’s resignation last month, Fragiskatos told CTV National News that he gave the prime minister time on vacation to reflect on the fact that no individual is greater than the country or the Liberal Party of Canada.
Fragiskatos said his decision to run for office came after much discussion with voters, community members and LPC members.
“We need a new leader who will present a new vision for the party and stand up to Poilievre,” he explained.
“I think (Poièvre) represents a tremendous threat to the social and economic fabric of this country.”
The comments are the latest in a tumultuous few weeks for Trudeau, including more than a dozen Liberal MPs publicly calling on him to resign, and the Ontario and Atlantic Party caucuses making similar demands. has been decided.
“It’s now January 4th. I hope he reaches a decision as soon as possible,” Fraziskatos concluded.
“I think it is time for the Prime Minister to step down and move towards a leadership contest where serious and thoughtful candidates have the opportunity to set out a new vision for the party.”
Mr Fragiskatos said he remained determined to seek re-election in this year’s new Commonwealth Equestrian event at the London Center.
He was first elected to represent London North Center in 2015.
