October 21, 2023 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
We say, “Enough is enough!” There is no place for hate in Ontario.
On October 21st, the ultra-conservative right has once again planned a nationwide event to protest the teaching of 2SLGBTQIA+ content in schools in the name of protecting children.
Due to sheer misinformation and misinformation about school policies intended to protect vulnerable youth and promote inclusive learning environments, this is far from protecting students and is failing far too many students. We know it will hurt them in many ways.
Trade unions will always fight for a fairer, more just and more just future for everyone, including children.
It is imperative that we come together to make our voices loud and send the message that there is no place for hate in our state.
OFL urges all leaders/union heads to work with works councils and community organizations to organize workers and communities and to appear at the listed locations on October 21st to address this rhetoric. We encourage you to form a rapid response team that can counter these messages of lies and truth. Love, acceptance, and inclusion.
Please join us at a meeting in your area.
Important: Once there, follow the lead and direction of community groups and local organizers. At the event. Please follow all security recommendations to stay safe.
reminder: The safety of participants is our top priority.
- Do not engage counter-demonstrators.
- De-escalate conflicts.
