Party accuses Conservatives of being ‘pawns of chaos’
NDP House Leader Peter Julian says there are still things his party wants to accomplish in Congress before the next election, but the current dysfunction in the House will affect how the party votes on future confidence measures. He said he was deaf.
In just three weeks, the Conservatives have failed to bring down the government with two no-confidence motions, but the opposition is promising more.
The New Democratic Party said it would decide how to vote on these motions on a case-by-case basis.
Mr Julian accused the Conservatives of being “pawns of chaos” in the House of Commons.
Since September 26, the government’s legislative agenda has come to a standstill, with debate over privileges supplanting most other topics.
Conservative Leader of the House of Commons Andrew Scheer said the situation was “self-inflicted” by the Liberals and would remain so until the government provided documentation of the misuse of public funds.
