Toronto –
Moneris, Canada’s leading payment processing company responsible for widely used debit and credit machines, has resolved issues with transaction processing after experiencing a network outage Friday afternoon.
“The issue has been identified and resolved,” the company posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Moneris confirmed that “everything should return to normal,” but sellers will still experience “slowdowns.”
At 8 a.m. ET, the service status page on Moneris’ website indicated that all systems were operating properly. The company said the problem began occurring at 2:30 p.m. ET, alleging “intermittent processing issues” and saying it was “actively investigating this issue with the utmost urgency.” Ta.
Downdetector, a website that monitors disruptions to critical services, found that it received more than 1,000 problem reports for Interac and Visa at about the same time.
This report was marked as resolved on the Moneris website by 4:30 PM ET.
The company experienced similar issues in September when it faced “intermittent network outages” that affected its customers’ ability to process transactions for 90 minutes.
