It’s been just over three months since Activision, Blizzard, and King teams joined Microsoft. Looking ahead to 2024, Microsoft Gaming and Activision Blizzard leadership are committed to aligning our strategy and execution plan with a sustainable cost structure that supports our entire growing business. Together, we set priorities, identified areas of overlap, and ensured we were all aligned on the best opportunities for growth.
As part of this process, we made the difficult decision to reduce the size of our gaming workforce by approximately 1,900 roles out of our team’s 22,000 people. The game leadership team and I are committed to navigating this process as thoughtfully as possible. Everyone directly affected by these reductions plays a critical role in the success of Activision Blizzard, ZeniMax, and the Xbox team and should be proud of everything we’ve accomplished here. We are grateful for the creativity, passion and dedication they bring to our game, our players and our colleagues. We will provide full support to those affected during the transition, including severance benefits in accordance with local employment laws. Employees whose roles are affected will be notified. We also ask that you treat departing colleagues with respect and consideration, consistent with our company’s values.
We will continue to invest in areas that support our strategy to grow our business and bring more games to more players around the world. Although these are challenging times for our team, we remain as confident as ever in your ability to create and nurture the games, stories, and worlds that connect players.
