York Region’s medical officer of health says a man infected with measles at a north Toronto high school was a “close contact” of students and teachers.
Dr. Barry Pakes said more than 1,500 students and 150 staff members at an unidentified school in York Region were notified last week that they may have been exposed to a positive measles case.

The case is a man in his 30s with no recent travel or contact with anyone who is sick.
Pakes said students and staff who may have been exposed were invited to a vaccination clinic on Sunday, and the turnout was excellent.
Pakes said the school’s measles vaccination rate is over 95%.
Students who do not have proof of having received two doses of the measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) vaccine will have until March 15th or until they can provide proof of vaccination or test-confirmed measles infection. , are not allowed to return to school.
Public Health Ontario said there have been five confirmed measles cases in the province so far, with all but one linked to travel.
