Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) has been tapped to lead a new House subcommittee that will work with the so-called Department of Government Efficiency, led by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswami.
Greene and House Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) have met with Ramaswamy and others and are “already working together,” a person familiar with the matter told CNBC on Thursday.
Comer aims to establish a subpanel early next year, the person said.
Greene’s group will be named the Subcommittee on Achieving Government Efficiency, allowing it to share the DOGE acronym with non-governmental organizations commissioned by President-elect Donald Trump.
“I am excited to chair this new subcommittee designed to work in partnership with President Trump, Elon Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy, and the entire DOGE team,” Greene said in a statement to CNBC. I’m excited.”
She said her committee would lead to the firing of government “bureaucrats” and vowed to “provide transparency and truth to the American people through public hearings.”

“We are grateful that the House Oversight Committee has created a DOGE subcommittee to focus on this effort, and we look forward to working together.”
“We will be working very closely with Elon Musk and Ramaswamy,” Comer said in an interview on Fox Business Thursday morning.
Comer accused “too many fat cats in government” and vowed the committee would “move on the chopping block.”
On November 12, President Trump announced that he had nominated Musk, one of the world’s richest men and a major supporter of Trump’s presidential campaign, and entrepreneur Ramaswamy to lead the Government Efficiency Group. The initials “DOGE” are reminiscent of the internet meme and associated cryptocurrency used by CEO Musk. tesla SpaceX frequently advertises this.
President Trump’s announcement specified that the group would provide “advice and guidance” to the White House and the Office of Management and Budget, not the official department.

Musk and Ramaswamy, who are also non-elected, said they would “advise DOGE every step of the way to pursue three key reforms: deregulation, administrative cuts, and cost reductions.”
Mr. Greene currently serves on the watchdog’s subcommittee on government operations and the federal workforce, among other committees.
Last Congress, the House voted to strip Greene of her committee assignments as punishment for her history of espousing fringe conspiracy theories.
