An exquisite dining experience brought to you by a petite 6cm tall chef.
“This is truly dinner and a show,” said Ian Jones, general manager of The Dorian Hotel. “This is the only product of its kind in Alberta.”
Le Petit Chef has attracted diners from 30 countries, but is relatively new to Canada.
It works using a 3D video projection mounted on the ceiling, allowing a thumb-sized chef to walk guests through a four-course meal right on the table.

“He gets into all kinds of antics,” Jones said. “In fact, he has a tough personality about it. Through it all, he remains upbeat and happy. You can hear the whole room giggling.”
This innovative animation, which originated in Germany, is the brainchild of Belgian artist collective Skullmapping, founded in 2010. While the little chefs entertain patrons, real chefs prepare each dish behind the scenes to accompany the animation.
“We lean toward classic French cuisine,” says executive chef Joshua Dyer. “Start with the burrata salad with fresh heirloom tomatoes and balsamic vinegar.”
Then move on to a finale of seafood bisque, beef striploin, and a sumptuous lavender crème brûlée.
