As the world’s attention focuses on the region, many are learning about the long-standing conflict for the first time and vocally choosing sides.
Canadian singer Justin Bieber offered his support by posting a graphic on Instagram that read, “Pray for Israel.” But some keyboard detectives quickly noticed that the message was superimposed on a photo of ruined Gaza.
Even though I’m Canadian When social media users became aware of this and screenshots of the post started circulating online, the singer quickly deleted the post.
Reaction to social media uproar
Under a post containing a screenshot, one user wrote: “We have reached the height of pointless pop delusion. Showing the ruins of Gaza destroyed in ‘Pray for Israel’ is a sign of the depravity of the times.” ” he commented.
“Stupid tone-deaf post for sure, but to be fair, he first posted something that was ‘really hurtful to both our Israeli and Palestinian friends,'” another Instagram user chided.
Another Instagram user wrote: “No wonder…they have no education and follow trends with the knowledge of a sheep.”
“What happened to “Pray for World Peace”? You pray for one “side” and not the other “side,” so there will never be peace among mankind.” It doesn’t exist,” another commenter mused.
