Starting Saturday morning, the fast food selection available at the square’s mobile vendors will expand to include falafel, shawarma and other popular Syrian dishes.
Listening to Brent Lamming speak at this week’s Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee meeting, you’d think city officials would be extremely proud of the new $11.6 million plaza downtown.
“It’s been used a lot,” said Lamming, Sault’s director of community services.
“We average about 40 to 50 skaters each night who use this facility as a passive activity.”
Ramin pointed out that thousands of people packed into the venue when the show started on November 16th.
Soo Greyhound fans flock to our popular game night event.
“We’ve had fans before home games, and we’ve had watch parties for away games,” Lamming said.
Mr Laming then announced the latest addition to the plaza’s food vendors, which will be set up in container booths outside Sault Market.
Starting Saturday morning, Syrian Table will be selling shawarma, falafel and Syrian favorites advertised as halal.
The new vendor will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Mr. Lamming, who saw a large turnout during the colder months, expects even more participants as the weather warms up.
“We expect this situation to continue throughout the year, especially as we move from skating season into spring and then as waters open up.
“It will be a different experience in the summer and we hope to see even more people in the warmer months.”
