In a recorded phone call shortly after her arrest, Ruby said that no one could understand that “children can be full of evil,” before adding, “The devil has been following me for years. , I’m really angry,” and claimed that a “spirit” told her “about you.” The children will be taken away” before that happens.
audio of Ruby Franke Prison phone records have been released, showing a conversation she had with her estranged husband, Kevin Franke, the day after she was arrested on child abuse charges.
Franke Hildebrandt and Jody Hildebrandt were each sentenced to up to 60 years in prison in Utah earlier this year. Both women filed a complaint regarding Franke’s children in August last year after Franke’s 12-year-old son crawled out of the window of Hildebrandt’s home and showed up at a neighbor’s house “emaciated and malnourished.” He was arrested on suspicion of abuse.
At the time of his arrest, Ruby and Kevin were estranged, and while Ruby and some of their children were living with Hildebrandt in Ivins, Utah, Hildebrandt continued to live at his parents’ home in Springville. He told police he had not seen his children for a year. When Ruby was arrested, she had no idea what was going on.
In a phone call between the two on August 31, the day after the arrest, Ruby can be heard saying, “You know my heart,” before revealing the charges. “That’s very serious,” he replied.
“I feel strong, I feel calm,” she told him. “Adults have a very hard time understanding that children can be full of evil and what it takes to fight it. I’ve seen what’s needed. It’s not who you’re fighting for, and it can seem like something it’s not.” ”
Ruby then tells Kevin, “You’ve been there, I know that. I don’t know any adults who are willing to see the truth. I’m calm about this. I wish you all the best.” I just pray that it will come to you.”
She went on to call the accusations against her a “witch hunt,” adding: “The devil has been following me for years and he’s really angry.” Asked if she had told detectives, Ruby said she had not said anything to authorities without a lawyer. Kevin reminded them that all calls were recorded.
“Yes, that will become clear,” she replied, before being told that the children would likely be hospitalized for three days. “It’s so weird. There’s no need for that. They’re trying to exaggerate this,” Ruby said.

Another phone call from September 1 was also made public, in which Ruby said she and Jodi were “completely misunderstood”.
“She’s risking her neck for people and people get mad at her. It’s really terrible. It’s terrible. And you know what? All Joseph Smith, “Every great man of God had to be misunderstood,” she said. , refers to the founder of Mormonism. “So I’m going to get out of this situation. If the truth prevails, I’ll probably get out of this situation in 10 days. Or 20 years? I don’t know how long it will take. I’m going to get out of here and I’m going through what I’ve been through. I’m going to say “everything.” “
“I have seen God’s children suffer. All the people here, my prison cellmates, were beautiful women, but they were hurting. They were deceived. They are drugged up and my heart goes out to them,” she continued. “I feel bad for the police, I feel bad for myself, and I feel bad for being said to be suicidal. No, no, that’s not true.”

“Satan took everything I love from me. And I’m a good woman. I don’t do naughty things. I don’t do naughty things. I’m a really good girl.” said. And she promised that she would “do everything I can to keep it true to our family.”
