Order of events for Tuesday, March. 19:
- Funeral mourners will arrive at the Sir John A. Macdonald Building at 9:30 a.m.
- The family will be greeted by the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
- The coffin, draped in the Canadian flag, will be carried through the Wellington Street main entrance by a team of Royal Canadian Mounted Police bearers, with the Mulroney family following behind.
- Once in the ballroom, the family will have a private moment with the casket, closed to the media.
- The coffin wake will be attended by one member of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), one member of the RCMP, two members of the Parliamentary Protection Service, one wake commander, and one standby observer. All are from CAF.
- From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., the family will receive condolences from Governor Mary Simon, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and other dignitaries.
Mr. Mulroney will also lie in state in Ottawa from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on March 20, before traveling to Montreal, where he will remain at St. Patrick’s College on RenĂ© Levesque Street West from 2 p.m. He will be laid to rest in the church. March 21st and March 22nd from 10am to 6pm.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Montreal. It is expected to last two hours.
