Coco is not an outside cat. He was lucky to get away with a light punishment after his recent escapades attracted the attention of neighbors, the power company, and thousands of strangers on the internet.
Koko, a 3-year-old tabby cat, climbed into a water column, purred for two hours, waited until she was almost rescued, and then plunged to the ground, severely limiting her time in the garden this week. . Under.
“He’s been crying to go outside, so I’m trying to keep him outside,” said Alice Reid, Koko’s owner. “He’s going to have to get used to being at home more.”
“I’m not going to let him out if I can help it.”
Reed captured Coco’s adventures near her home in Dildo, Netherlands, in a video posted to Facebook on Monday.
She said she initially made the post to thank the utility worker who climbed the pole to try to save Koko. But unexpectedly, the video was shared hundreds of times and reached almost 200,000 views.
“Never in a million years did I think he was going to jump off on his own,” Reed said.
She said she was initially more worried about the utility worker and worried that Koko would scratch him during the rescue effort.
“When he hit the ground, I saw him start running,” she said. “But I thought for sure he was hurt.”

Neighbors gathered to use ladders to rescue Coco before calling Newfoundland Power for help.
“Coco tried to get off herself several times, but she was scared,” Reid said. “He was shivering and cold.”
Ms Reed said she was very scared when Coco finally jumped off.
“Everyone here, myself and my neighbors, was just screaming,” she said.
But the cat doesn’t seem to mind.
“He went up the stairs and went inside,” she said. “Then he lay down on the floor and he started washing his body as if nothing had happened.”
