Tesla is offering a one-month free trial of Full Self-Driving (FSD) to new car buyers. Elon Musk extended the offer to existing Tesla owners.
The company has already updated the configurator pages for Tesla Model Y, Model X, and Model S. The Model 3 order page does not state that new buyers receive his 1-month free trial of his FSD.
Following the FSD free trial update, Elon Musk announced on X: “All FSD-capable U.S. cars will be eligible for a one-month trial this week.”
Musk’s announcement means existing Tesla owners who haven’t purchased FSD will also be able to try it out for a month. As of this writing, Tesla’s full self-driving feature costs $12,000.
Tesla’s one-month free trial period for FSD suggests that the company has significantly improved its self-driving software. Tesla is also taking precautions with his FSD version 12. Elon Musk updated Tesla’s delivery process in a leaked email asking employees to provide the following information: FSD V12.3.1 is delivered to new customers.
Tesla’s recent move to promote FSD V12 teases its capabilities and the company’s self-driving car efforts. CATL Chairman Robin Zeng spoke about the cooperation between Chinese battery suppliers and Tesla in a recent interview.
Zeng mentioned Tesla’s $25,000 car and its battery and hinted at the possibility of developing cells for robotaxi vehicles. CATL is Supplying battery machinery for Tesla’s Giga Nevada expansion. Tesla plans to build two new facilities at Giga Nevada, one of which will be a dedicated production line for the 4680.
The Tesla FSD will be a vital component in the company’s next generation of cars, as well as its $25,000 cars. By bringing FSD to more customers, Tesla could lay the foundation for future cars.
