The first Furiosa: The Mad Max Saga trailer is here, revealing Anya-Taylor-Joy as a younger version of Charlize Theron’s wilderness heroine and familiar faces like Immortan Joe. Ta. Chris Hemsworth also continues the Mad Max tradition of casting Australian actors, and he plays the role of Dementus in a pretty wild way.
The new Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga trailer released during CCXP offers the first glimpse of the highly anticipated sequel to 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road. The journey of Furiosa, the heroine of Fury Road, and the quest that led her to carry out her daring plot are described in detail, and it is said that the structure will be significantly different from the previous work. George Miller returned to direct the new film and co-wrote the screenplay with Niko Lasli.
Here is the logline with additional plot details:
As the world falls apart, young Furiosa is kidnapped from Many Mother’s Green Place and falls into the hands of a large biker army led by Warlord Dementus. After running through the wasteland, they encounter the Citadel, which is presided over by Immortan Joe. As two Tyrants fight for supremacy, Furiosa must overcome many challenges in order to find her way home.
Furiosa attempts to build the world of Mad Max, one of the cornerstones of the post-apocalyptic franchise since its debut over 30 years ago. Upon its release, Fury Road received critical acclaim for its incredible stunts and practical effects, causing both moviegoers and studios to reconsider CGI’s larger role in action films.
At the time of Fury Road’s release, we said, “All the over-the-top stunts and outlandish characters and designs, like Max himself and troubled characters like Furiosa, are a huge part of Fury Road. It’s very important, but that’s the most important feeling.” “What impresses me most is how unique this movie is, how it tries to be more than just an action movie. Mad Max: Fury Road is like no other. Similarly, it is a thing of beautiful brutality.”
Details about Furiosa began to emerge in 2020, with Theron calling the decision to recast Furiosa “heartbreaking.” Taylor-Joy later said she was “really excited” to take on the role and said she had “already dreamed of her.” Meanwhile, Hemsworth plays a “totally anti-type” role as Furiosa’s main villain, and his strong performance is already evident in the trailer.
In addition to the trailer, CCXP had various items on display, including a gold statue of Taylor-Joy, who plays Furiosa. This was part of a panel where cast and crew revealed additional details about the prequel, which is scheduled to be released on May 24, 2024 after being postponed.
