Are you planning your next vacation? WestJet just increased its baggage fees, and Flair added credit card fees so customers will have to pay extra.
WestJet is changing its checked baggage fees starting February 15, so think carefully about what you pack on your next flight.
Customers can expect to pay extra for their first and second checked bag.
pre-paid Baggage fees The first checked bag costs $35 to $42, and the second checked bag costs $55 to $65. However, if you choose self-service check-in, you’ll pay $45 to $54 for your first checked bag and $65 to $77 for your second bag.
Checking in at the airport is even more expensive, with fees ranging from $55 to $65 for the first checked bag and $75 to $89 for the second checked bag.
Meanwhile, Flair has also caused a stir after low-cost airlines started charging customers credit card processing fees.
According to the airline’s announcement, Websitefees range from 1.4% to 2%.
“Processing fees charged to customers who choose to use a credit card to make a purchase through flyflair.com,” the site states. “Customers can avoid this fee while benefiting from zero liability protection by using Visa/MasterCard debit products.”
Credit card fees are not uncommon in the airline industry, but dissatisfied travelers are complaining online.
