Latest Animation Flick “Wish” Flops
Box office woes continue

It’s another box office flop for Disney — the studio’s latest original animated film was flooded with moviegoers over the holidays… just the latest flop for them.
Of course, we are talking about “wishes”… ariana debose as the main character, and chris pine as the big bad guy and lots of other cute supporting characters. Unfortunately, none of it was enough…because “Wish” only made $31.7 million over its five-day “weekend.”
Ticket sales were starting to be tallied on Wednesday, but by Sunday… “Wish” was way down. According to the forecast, the same he was expected to make between $45 million and $50 million in five days.
It didn’t do too well overseas either, earning just $17.3 million overseas for a total worldwide revenue of about $49 million. Simply put, the film was a huge flop, finishing in third place behind Napoleon (second place) and The Hunger Games prequel (again, first place).
This isn’t good news for the Mouse House, which usually dominates Thanksgiving store windows. Until last year, when another original animation, “Strange World,” did disastrously, Disney used to release hits around this time every year…including “Encanto” and “Coco,” all of which were hits. Ta. It will quickly cost you a lot of money.
What’s weird is that “Wish” actually got good reviews and great audience reaction…so it’s unclear what exactly went wrong.There is a possibility SAG strike Promotion for this film was hampered…but that too ended well before the release date, so it’s a bit of a mystery.
Let me tell you, this is just Disney’s latest failure this year. Others include the last “Indiana Jones” movie, “The Haunted Mansion” and “Marvels.” It’s been a really tough year.
