Conan O’Brien admitted that he “lost his mind” while appearing on the much talked about “Hot Ones”.
Just hours after the segment ended on Thursday, O’Brien told Jake Tapper that she was “completely broken physically, emotionally and mentally.” He said, “If you think something is wrong, you do it and suffer later. And that’s exactly what happened.”
Rather than settle for a medium level of spiciness like many other celebrities on his hot wing-fueled talk series, O’Brien not only drank the spiciest hot sauce, but also smeared it on his face.
“When I got home, my hands were burning. I realized the sauce had gotten under my wedding ring and was burning my skin. It’s acid, you idiot!” O’Brien exclaimed.
O’Brien also gently chided CNN for appearing to mourn “his good friend” O.J. Simpson when Tapper appeared on the channel earlier in the day.
“One of my comedian friends took a snapshot of me on CNN today,” the comedian told Tapper during a Thursday night conversation at the Paley Media Center. . And the banner below me says “OJ Simpson Dead.” I mean, just looking at that snapshot, it looks like, “I had Conan talk about O.J., his best friend.” That’s what it looks like!”
The comedian told Tapper on CNN that he would not make jokes about O.J. Simpson on the day he died. Tapper jokingly said he intended to call O’Brien at 6 a.m. the next day, when the same-day joke ban would likely be lifted.
O’Brien’s new travel show, “Conan O’Brien Must Go,” premieres Monday on Max. In conjunction with his podcast and continuing a tradition dating back to NBC’s “Late Night” travel segment, the series sees him visit Norway, Thailand, Argentina and Ireland.
He jokingly said, “I am forced to flee my homeland and go on the run to find people who want to talk to me in far-flung parts of the world.”
