New flight data shows Calgary is Canada’s most popular travel destination for people planning summer adventures.
Google Flights has released a list of top trending destinations for summer, based on data for trips booked from June to August as of March 2024.
Calgary took second place on the list of top Canadian tourist destinations, with Vancouver taking the top spot.
Toronto, Halifax and Montreal rounded out the top five.
Around the world, Paris is the top destination for Canadians to fly to this summer, as the Summer Olympics begin at the end of July.
Other popular international destinations include London, Lisbon, Tokyo, and Rome.
According to Google, many Canadians are interested in going on solo adventures. Searches for terms like “solo travel” hit an all-time high in February 2024.
According to Google Search Insights from January to March, the top destinations Canadians are considering for solo travel include Vienna, Machu Picchu, Brussels, Vietnam and Costa Rica.

For Calgarians thinking about summer vacation plans, waist jet is offering several new routes from YYC starting this summer, including Seoul, South Korea. Reykjavik, Iceland.and Deer Lake, New Jersey.
The airline also added nonstop flights from Calgary to several sunny destinations for the summer, including Honolulu and Maui, Hawaii. Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. and Varadero, Cuba.
air canada did not announce any new routes from Calgary over the summer, but did expand service from Toronto and Montreal to several European destinations.
