BC Ferries has announced the cancellation of some Friday night sailings on two of its major routes in anticipation of strong winds on the south coast.
The company announced that it would discontinue all flights after 7 p.m. Tsawwassen and Schwarz Bay All scheduled ferries in both directions and after 8 p.m. Tsawwassen and Duke Pointagain in both directions.
The affected vessels are:
Tsawwassen (Vancouver) to Swartz Bay (Victoria)
Swartz Bay (Victoria) to Tsawwassen (Vancouver)
Tsawwassen (Vancouver) to Duke Point (Nanaimo)
Duke Point (Nanaimo) to Tsawwassen (Vancouver)
BC Ferries says it will monitor the weather system and share any updates.
said City News meteorologist Michael Kuss. Autumn storm Winds are expected to gust across much of the region from Friday into Saturday.
Wind gusts could reach 90 kilometers per hour in some parts of the state.
“We’ll also see some rain. The heaviest rain will be around Metro Vancouver from about 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Rain is also expected to linger into the early afternoon (Saturday) in the Fraser Valley, where rainfall warnings are in place. ”’ Kuss said.
