Canada’s flag carrier Air Canada is the latest airline to resume flights to Tel Aviv. The airline will join fellow Star Alliance member United Airlines in resuming service to the city this spring after suspending service last October.
Dreaming of 787 service
Air Canada has announced that it will return to Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion International Airport (TLV) starting next month. A Simple Flying analysis of flight schedule data provided to Cirium revealed that the airline’s first post-grounding flight departed on April 8 on one of the company’s Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners.
This link is scheduled to depart Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) from Terminal 1 on Monday, April 8th at 16:44. Flight (AC 80) will take 10 hours and 30 minutes to arrive and is scheduled to land in Tel Aviv’s Terminal 3. 09:55 the next morning.
United Airlines becomes first US airline to resume flights to Tel Aviv
This service was originally suspended in October 2023.
The return flight will not depart from Tel Aviv until Wednesday, April 10th. The flight (AC flight 81), which departs just before noon at 11:55 local time, is blocked and will take 11.5 hours to reach Toronto, landing at 4:55 p.m. on the same day.talk to open jawAir Canada’s Peter Fitzpatrick confirmed the airline is targeting an April return to airports:
“We have always said we intend to resume service to TLV and are finalizing logistics at this time for an April restart.”

The airline is deploying Dreamliners on this route. The wide-body jet is designed to seat 21 passengers in business class, 21 in premium economy and 21 in standard economy.

United Airlines became the first North American airline to resume service to the airport. The airline’s first two flights, operated via Munich in case of a technical emergency, arrived safely, marking the resumption of direct flights between Tel Aviv and Newark (EWR) serving the New York City area.

Air Canada has temporarily canceled flights between Canada and Tel Aviv on October 8, 2023 due to fighting in Israel. Airline officials indicated at the time that they would resume operations if deemed appropriate.
“We are closely monitoring this dynamic situation and will adjust these plans as necessary,” aviation officials said at the time.
“We remain in contact with the Government of Canada. Air Canada plans to resume service to Tel Aviv as soon as the situation stabilizes.”

Other airlines restarting flights to Tel Aviv this year included eight European carriers that resumed operations in January. Next, Air Canada will resume flights from Montreal (YUL) to Tel Aviv on May 1, with Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners also operating.
