AITA who didn’t tell her boyfriend that she earned money 15 years ago?
“I need advice because I don’t know what I did wrong or what my actions were wrong,” the woman cautiously began her post. She added: “She didn’t want to post this on her real account because she wanted to remain as anonymous as possible.”
“My boyfriend (35m) and I (35ft) were discussing money as we wanted to be on the same page. My boyfriend’s landlord decided to move into this property with his family, so we decided to “My boyfriend suddenly moved in with me a month ago,” she explained. . “We were talking about money, and the topic came up about how we were going to own our own home. In 2009, I had some money (not a lot of money, but it was a lot of money) to go to nursing school. , I explained that I had earned enough money to buy a house and have some savings) and bought my house outright and rented it out until I lived there again at the end of 2018. ”
“Obviously I got lucky because it was the middle of the recession, so I was able to get a room really cheap,” the OP (original poster) explained. “He alleges that he deceived me by giving the impression that I was financially well-off and led him to believe that I was more business savvy than I actually was.”
Then asked/said I still wanted the car I advised not to buy. He hinted that I would buy it as a birthday present for him since his birthday is in early March.
Of course, this is where her fellow Redditors started waving red flags.
“I literally work as a nurse, make decent money, own my own home, own my own car, have a decent retirement plan and decent savings, so , I don’t know how I did that. I’m pretty sure I’m financially better off than most people I know,” she continued.
“He says he can’t trust me anymore and that I was stupid to listen to my financial advice, but the truth is that I don’t trust him anymore, other than telling him not to buy a car he doesn’t think I can trust.” gave him no financial advice at all” and was too expensive. ”
“Did I cheat on him by not telling him how I became financially stable?” she asked, before adding, “For your information, we’ve been dating for almost a year and a half.” said.

Then came the OP’s Gold Digger Revelations in real time
First update: “I had another really weird conversation with him and I honestly can’t wrap my head around it. Yes, he’s definitely a gold digger. He asked me how much money I had in savings and was impressed with the amount. “Maybe he reacted too aggressively. Then he asked or said he still wanted the car I advised him not to buy. I did. He hinted that I would buy it as a birthday present since his birthday is in early March. I will definitely dump him.” 2 in case he freaks out. I’m planning to wait until my sister and two brothers-in-law arrive before I break up with him. ”
Second update: “He’s jealous and angry at the same time, yelling that if he had won, his prize money would have been tripled.”
He now says that if he only needs a quarter of my money, he can show me how to invest in the stock market and “make real money.”
Third update: “He’s saying my money is wasted because I’m not ‘making money.’ Apparently I should be investing my savings in high-yield stocks and other crap. FYI, I get financial advice from a financial advisor.” “Trust me, I’m a risk-averse person and would never invest the way this idiot suggests!” Yes, there is a chance to win a lot of money, but there is also a chance to lose it!”
Fourth update: “He’s ranting like crazy right now because I suggested we stop this discussion because I didn’t want to ruin a few days off. Oh my god, I can’t believe his attitude. Hmm. He thinks he’s very smart, but I’m a thorough thinker.” I was disgusted. Oh, it’s completely over between us. ”
Fifth update: “Okay, now I understand him better. So, because of my house and its grounds, he thought I was much richer than I was. I thought I was rich. So when I told him I was actually lucky, he was furious. When he realized how much savings and assets I had, he perked up and started thinking. He now says that if you have a quarter of my money, he will teach you “how to make real money” by investing in the stock market. “Oh, he’s really being fooled.”

He wants a “sugar mama” and other opinions from Redditors
Redditors raised red flags and were giving her an avalanche of updates, calling her boyfriend everything from “whip” to a gold digger before the OP was complete.
“He thought you were better off and could leave you in the long run. It always starts with some problem and moving in together, but the woman’s home was the only logical place. ” said one visionary Redditor. “Then he will lose his job due to ‘circumstances’ and will not be able to find another job. He has already started hinting that he is dissatisfied with his current job and that he is being treated unfairly. No doubt about it.”
“Naturally, he believes you were cheated, because the easy retirement package he had in mind was not so extravagant that he could only live on your nurse’s salary,” they concluded. I attached it.
All of which seemed to deeply impress the OP, who responded: “You literally called it that!”
Then he loses his job due to “circumstances” and is unable to find another job. He must have already started hinting that he is dissatisfied with his current job and that he is being treated unfairly.
In response to another commenter, the woman explained her income: “My income is just over 200,000 and I can make more if I work overtime. I also know that I could buy a pretty decent place now if I wanted to, and that’s based on the opinions of my colleagues.” These are people who have bought homes over the past few years. ”
When others asked her if she knew how much her boyfriend had in savings, she replied: “He said he had 18,000 in savings. He definitely had 30 days’ notice to move, and he was actually looking for a house.”I helped him, but the rental market Things were a bit tough so we agreed he could move in and of course he pays the rent. ”
She added, “When he hinted that he was going to buy me a Tesla, my jaw dropped. Talking to him the last few days literally hurt my brain. He said one thing and… The next thing will contradict the previous one. He said, “This has never happened to me before, but I guess moving made it harder to hide his insanity! ”
Elsewhere the OP explained: “I am absolutely aware that my win has put me in an extraordinary position. If I hadn’t won, I would have lost much of my student loans and other debts. It would have been hanging over my head. I’ve never thought of myself as superior.’
